So, tell us what you really think...

I admit, I have consciously avoided blogging for a very long time; even after electing to transition my career to "writer' a few years back. It is one thing to create ficticious characters and circumstances, but quite another to express one's true feelings and opinions for the world to read.

What if I embarrass myself?  What if I offend someone?  What if I turn off or alienate a fan of my work?

I've held all of the above questions as reason not to express my personal views and opinions publicly. 'Letting myself go' could have serious career implications. Yet, as time passes and the world changes--in very few positive ways IMHO--it is becomming more and more difficult for me stay silent.

True, I have shared my innermost opinions about politics, entertainment and many other subjects with close personal friends and family via email or over a meal...usually with cocktails. But this blog now represents the birth of the new 'public' me. Only time will tell whether the move is a long overdue breath of fresh air; or the most ill-advised decision I've ever made.
